Mazda has always been known for doing things the little differently. Take it’s early efforts at Le Mans, for example. Instead of using the V6, V8, or other engine with actual cylinders, Mazda used the rotary. Of course, Mazda has used rotary engines in road cars for generations, and it made sense to use one in a race car too. This one is the 1990 767B, the precursor to the Le Mans winning 787B. It looks broadly similar, it sounds rather similar too. Which is to say it sounds like a high pitched demon scream of the spawn of hellfire.
